“IN THE MIDST OF A STORM” happens to be the title to one of the new songs off of the upcoming double CD – “BUILDING BRIDGES” , and also a starting point of sorts of how this music ministry got started.
I have always been an avid lover of music and would sing nearly every chance I would get. Life was full of new jobs, raising beautiful kids, writing songs and trying to market them in Nashville Tennessee and looking towards an exciting future dancing with endless possibilities.
I was on my way to a meeting and was running a bit late (which was very normal for me!) and driving faster than what I would normally drive. Moving along a highway that I was well familiar with, unaware that I had become distracted as I glanced off to my right side. In the next fraction of a second I collided…
“SWEET FREEDOM” was a song that came to me in two stages. I was given the chorus of the song and the over all melody – almost right away, however the rest of the song came after a few weeks. Whether you know it or not, there IS a very real battle going on behind the “visible” in our lives every moment of every day. This battle truly does belong to our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, without whom we would be no different than wayward sheep being led by cunning stray wolves. In Christ Jesus we have the “SWEET FREEDOM” that I sing about within the song and so very, very much more. Bring to HIM your troubles, your worries, your cares…We ARE to cast upon HIM all the burdensome baggage that is keeping us from being all that we can be in HIM. Once you truly trust in HIM to truly navigate and direct your life, you will soon see that there is really nothing that will be able to hold you back, from being all that HE created you to be. The “behind the scenes enemy of our souls” has no authority to control us or restrict us ~ when JESUS CHRIST is the Lord of our lives. NOTHING could ever keep HIM away from you if you call upon HIS MIGHTY and SAVING NAME. HIS Love for us is not describable in human terms, HE desires to fellowship with each and every one of us all the time. JESUS holds each and every key in the palm of HIS hands to unlock each and every door that we need to walk through in order to reach our destiny, a unique and ever true destiny that each one of us have been given to climb and reach. Spend time with HIM today, and bless HIS Name every chance you can, amen.
There are many who still believe that all there is – is just what we see, the here and the now. I have been reminded so many times over the last number of years that – that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have first hand witnessed in my life, miracles, Divine intervention, direction and healing that were VERY real and were absolutely from a LIVING GOD. I have ALSO witnessed first hand, up close and personal a like wise VERY real opposing force, that is equally at work behind the normal “visual scenes” non the less still here and still always at work. Our Creator is eternal and is beyond any sense of description that we have available presently to even scratch the surface at a description, HE Loves us and wants to be with us forever, thus having made our souls and Spirits eternal as well. Jesus made a way for us to spend forever with God and to navigate the treacherous hidden terrain that is some of what we are faced with while here. Only in JESUS can we truly (stand) against the un-seen forces at work that pull us ever so carefully into trappings that lead to lives’ unfulfilled and on courses of destruction. We can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGHTENS US. Amen Be blessed and share HIM with someone today, even if it is just through a kind smile to a stranger. Give HIM thanks today, for the MERCY and LOVE that was poured out freely for each one of us, and is still poured out on us daily…
“MORNING LIGHT” is a new song that will be featured on the up and coming “BUILDING BRIDGES” double CD recording project. This song is co-written by Carol Tranquillo, and was inspired and created in September of 2013.
Good morning Mighty, Wondrous King, You are my awesome everything, You are all I ever need, all I ever need, You Are.
Each new day presents itself not much different than that of a new canvas that we will paint on throughout our new day. Sometimes we start our new day forgetting that the painting of yesterday was for yesterday, and we again load that on to our new canvas. Sometimes we are so stuck in a particular canvas that this is all we really see anymore. The only thing that is forever the same and never unchanging is our Wonderful and Mighty King, our Creator who is never changing, and is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. When we have freely handed over to HIM, our lives’ we know that the Master designer of all that is, was and that will ever ever be, openly invites us to be all that HE created us to be.HE desires us to become the full masterpieces that HE intended us to be – since the moment that HE designed and created us wonderfully and in HIS image. Take time today to paint something new on your canvas.
“I come to the garden alone” Penned by Charles A. Miles in 1913 is such an incredibly special song. It describes in melodic detail how accessible God is, and how very much HE welcomes spending time with us. I was playing music yesterday and singing, and as I finished with some songs that I was singing to HIM, those words came and fell ever so softly and sweetly on to me ~ “And HE walks with me, and HE talks with me”. Ever so sweetly HE reminds us that we are never truly alone, and that HE IS with us always. The thought of such an unfathomable God, loving us so very deeply, and openly inviting us to spend time with HIM, we simply cannot fully understand. We have HIS ear every time we ask in prayer, or openly are seeking HIM. There are no lines and no waiting list, just an unfathomable God who has created us to be with and worship HIM. Don’t ever think for even one moment that HE is too busy, or why would HE ever talk with me, because my friend I can tell you truthfully and from my heart that HE welcomes you into HIS arms of love.

I was on my way to a meeting and was running a bit late (which was very normal for me!) and driving faster than what I would normally drive. Moving along a highway that I was well familiar with, unaware that I had become distracted as I glanced off to my right side. In the next fraction of a second I collided with a tractor trailer truck which had stopped completely in the driving lane. I remember that feeling in my stomach and that one thought – I’m going to hit it and this might be the end and it’s completely out of my control…Everything switched to “slow motion mode” just like in a movie, only this was very real. The impact occurred and as clear as day I remember he feeling of a hand pressing firmly against my right shoulder, keeping me perfectly in my seat. My wife had convinced me to wear seat belts months prior to this and I also had one on during the accident, but it was the hand that prevented me from moving at all…Glass shattered and floated in tiny mid air movements and I was aware that the van that I was driving had now lifted off of the ground with the impact. All of this happened within seconds, and then was over. I had a picture of Jesus stuck in the bottom corner of my dashboard, and I remembered how that seemed to move across the dash board as the hand held me in place. I was able to get out of the driver side door, and aside from feeling “shaky” I was completely unharmed without even a scratch…The police officer, truck driver and tow truck driver seemed shocked that I had come through this with out even a scratch. The tow truck driver explained that the way I had hit the truck, I could have been easily become be-headed, and that he had seen similar accidents and the outcomes involved fatalities. He said to me, “you know, you must have someone from above looking out for you”, shaking his head. If he only knew how true that statement actually was, and how many times that I have thought about that hand on my shoulder, in the midst of a life changing event.
“IN THE MIDST OF A STORM” wasn’t written until a number of years after that event, however that event was a “pivotal moment, a defining moment” that would set my life on a completely different course. I am extremely grateful to have been given a second chance and more time to walk in this lifetime, and a new set of “lenses” to view life and life’s challenges through. Also a new depth of conviction on just how real our Lord God is, and how His sovereignty over all things can provide an unparalleled comfort in the midst of any storm.
